Foley's not an international 12.

Not real sure what the point of having To'omua play 10 when he's not partnered with an actual 12. If it's in an effort to try out some cover for Foley, then put Foley on the bench and run out a real 12 with To'omua.

It's just another flavour of the shit sandwich that Cheika served up to QC (Quade Cooper) when he put Foley at 12 with QC (Quade Cooper) at 10 - when To'omua doesn't work out at 10 then he will get the blame...

Throw in the added bonus of a halves pairing that haven't played together (I believe) and it's destined to fail...

Yeah - I can’t see much logic there at all.

Very keen to see Petaia get a crack. Would have liked Banks to be either on the other wing or at the back.

Will reserve judgement on AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) given I haven’t seen him play for three years.

I thinking Chuckles must feel that his wings need a rest, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) on the wing seems to suggest that anyway. Still, with a semi-guaranteed win over Italy I wondered if one of the big boys on the wing may of got a bit more experience. Definitely seems to be going for twin playmakers option, so wonder why he even bothered swapping Foley/To'omua's numbers.

It does seem to defy logic a bit but given the Cheika philosophy of playing two 10s and one centre I can kind of get my head around it. Beale needed to be benched and Kerevi needs more game time at 13 before England so there weren't a lot of options I guess.

The problem is that To'omua is our only 'real 12' aside from Beale. You could play AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) there at a stretch but there would be a couple of extra pages on this thread if that happened.

Seems a bit harsh...

To'omua is a better goal kicker and has a longer kick than Foley, so one wonders what Foley is there for. Maybe he needs a specialist to defend in the tram tracks at the lineout?;)

Named where they are named, but I reckon we will see this backline should/will be used, particularly in defense

9 Gordon
10 To'omua
11 Petaia
12 Kerevi
13 AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14 Folau
15 Foley

Foley plays a lot at 12 with Beale swapping a lot. But I would still prefer Kerevi there. I don't understand the plan, you put Foley at 12 and the outside should get a load of ball - and we pick AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) on the wing when we need pace on the edge

The only reason I can come up with, is his defence and that Foley will be a second 15 in defence

I will continue to prefer Kerevi at 12 and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)/Jordan at 13, pace/ threat on the wings and the second play maker working from 15 (Beale or Foley would work in that set up)

I think at the end of the day it's Italy, we can't under-estimate them and need to put out a strong team but at the same time we need to experiment a bit before England i.e. give To'omua a decent run, and rest/bench a few of the recent under-performers. The make up of the bench allows us to revert to the status quo if it's going pear.

We have a core still of matching the mediocrity of lessor sides.

Happy to see To'omua get some time, but I can't see an "ignited" backline with him at 10. Nice kicking, solid defense, but putting someone through a whole - unlikely
