If you play 4 games I think you qualify for the other coverage included in a contract e.g. minimum salary etc.

@dave

Im not the only one saying it, yet you seem to be the only one around here defending him. Think a tad of bias is getting in the way

To be fair to @Dave Beat he probably has watched more of him recently than most of us. I haven't seen much in the past to say he's the goods at Super level, but admit I've barely watched him this year. Players can change.

to be fair as well though it is very obvious, not through just his posts on Peterson but his posts in general, that he is a one eyed manly supporter

I would say he's a passionate Manly man, and good on him, but he's pretty fair about players from elsewhere. That's my take anyway.
I'll always defer to someone who has seen a lot more of a player than me, just as I'll defend one who I've watched closely and I feel is getting sold short. I honestly can't say about Peterson this year, so I accept a few of you would know more. Let's face it, with minimal TV coverage, who really sees a lot of a player if not someone who follows that team week-in, week-out?

So you'd agree that Peterson, deserves to stay with the tahs? That he is a standout at Shute shield games that you have watched of him? And that his development is at a satisfactory level? Especially when compared to other players that have spend a similar amount of time in a pro environment like he has eg hooper, jones, strizaker, volavola, Skelton, alofa

It's not as if there's locks banging the door down to take his contract however. I was dirty Coleman was brushed at the Tahs, anyone could see his potential over someone like Peterson. Cummins got picked up by the Rebels but that says it all really, don't think he's close to being ready for Super Rugby. Even in the u20s only Staniforth has looked like quality and he's already at the Brumbies. We have a young lock crisis.

Did you actually read what I wrote?

I honestly can't say about Peterson this year, so I accept a few of you would know more.

Here are two examples just up the page. I was just defending @Dave Beat, who I feel is a pretty fair poster actually.

Peterson has missed a lot of rugby since he was signed. In hindsight it has been a poor signing because the Tahs have got nothing out of it in terms of Super Rugby games and Peterson hasn't really developed.

If he's finally healthy it represents a tough decision for the Tahs. Do they ditch him after all the time they've put into him or do they persevere? Clearly we've missed out on opportunities in the meantime such as Adam Coleman.

I believe Peterson was downgraded to an EPS contract this year.

Clearly we need to sign at least one new lock next year to replace Douglas. If Chapman doesn't return then a replacement for him as well.

Given there's space for lock signings already I wouldn't be surprised to see Peterson retained for another year especially if as Dave Beat says, he's finally showing decent improvement.

You can't change what's happened previously with his time at the Tahs. You can only make a decision based on what you think will happen in the future.
The only rugby I have seen him play this year was the Blues trial at the start of the season. He wasn't good then but that's a fair while ago now and a one off performance.

According to RugbyNews Chapman is going to return for Easts next week, he might get some game time off the bench to prove his worth for next year.

If Peterson wasn't the size he is, nobody would ever know about him. He wasn't even a schoolboy star, just so much bigger than everyone else.

And here we get to the statute of limitations on rugby selection. A guy who is part of a dominant team might get picked over a dominant player in a bad team. Them's the risks.
