According to Force supporters Tyrrell has a full contract, but the “Last Year” date is unknown.
Also please advise about the boo-boos you have spotted and I will change them.

Some decently sized backs in that lot.

Looking at the frontrow, Dunning appears to be a very good pickup. Be interesting to see how the scrum goes...

George Gregan (70)
1 Dunning 2 Cowan 3 Fairbrother
4 Hockings 5 Sharpe

Even though Sharpe is a nancy seagull, that scrum shouldn't have many problems.

Good to see a well balanced view - a chip on both shoulders and one on the head.

PS - I have already got my first yellow card over there and I wasn't trying. Not really, Well, maybe a bit. A little bit. Telling one of the mods to stop being so precious isn't that bad.

Is it?

Well the site is quite obviously a Force site, and the posters there do admit that its probably going to be Force bias, at least they are upfront about where they stand.

This site is quite humerous actually, you can strike a nerver here occasionally as well, some Waratah supporters have a chip on there shoulder. Quick to label other people bias but choose to see right past there own blatant one sided opinion.

Who? Name them. I've never met, nor heard of, a Tahs supporter with a chip on his shoulder.

Tah men can not have a chip on any shoulder. Only the inferior can so do.

If anything, we have logs.

We Tahs people tease a bit but any true rugby fan from here wants all the best players in Oz running around the park in Super rugby. and since we provide over 60% of the players, probably closer to ?rds, it's inevitable that we are going to lose some good players who played all, or most, of their club rugby here before leaving. We'd just prefer that we didn't lose the goodies.

We used a have a large chip on our shoulders early in the pro era because the Brumbies, via that astute Rat, Rod Macqueen, picked up players that were overlooked by the Tahs. We questioned the competence of the Tahs people dishing out the Tahs contracts, and conveniently overlooked the fact that a lot of players blossomed when exposed to pro rugby and the likes of Macqueen nurturing them. We also ignored non-rugby reasons about why players wanted to leave Sydney and that, in particular, young players wanted to experience another part of Australia.

That is still happening with 4 Super teams in the mix and will prevail when we have 5 teams.

It would be interesting for somebody to start up another thread listing two teams of players who started their club rugby in Sydney and are currently:

(a) Playing for other S14 franchises
(b) Playing overseas.

I'm too lazy to do it.

gday forum,

finally have got sometime to myself and just had a look through all the super 14 top squads,

each franchise seems to have a top squad of 31-32 players.

I can account of 60 players who have definately cut their teeth in club rugby in sydney. However i believe i would have most likely missed some.

Pretty sure on a previous thread someone has put together a comprehensive list of oz players applying their craft o/s. I will try to track it down and work out how many have come from sydney club rugby ranks.

I too have lurked quietly over at TWF. Bit bemused by it sometimes, they tend to over rate a few of the Force players (in my opinion). There's a lot of love for Cowan over there, for mine he'd be fighting it out for a bench spot with Henderson (at best) if he remains at prop. I agree with NTA that his, and the Force's, best bet may be to try him at hooker.

Any idea what happened to Luke Holmes? Let go? And who is the replacement hooker Tyrell?

What I've seen (and heard) of Whittaker is that he has the potential, but is not there yet. Starting him next year may be a real risk for the Force. It's telling that Whittaker was usually the third string hooker in the U20s side behind Fitzpatrick and Nathan Charles (Brumbies Academy still?).

The big issue with that Force squad posted by Lee is depth. Handy first choice team (and that tight five posted by NTA looks very competent for the S14). But if a few of the first choice players get hurt (and let's face it, both them and the Reds have had huge injury problems in the last 3 years), then their replacements are either a big step down or a big unkown, or likely both.

WPRU find a sponsor for the warmup matches between the Force/Stormers and Sharks around the corner on Newlands. Think that is pretty good stuff and just shows that rugby still is king in Stormers territory.

The Force are trying to sign the 23 year old Kiwi North Harbour hooker as their developmental player. Interesting choice, as those at TWF think that Tyrell would start and he'd only be fighting for a bench spot with Whittaker. The ARU are apparently a bit reluctant to allow him as the developmental player. Harsh for the Force, but understandable if he's 23 and barely ride the pine anyway.

I think he should be allowed on a one year contract.

The Emirates Western Force have named a 12-man squad for the upcoming Digicel Suva Sevens, with senior squad members Stefano Hunt and Luke Jones set for their first action in the club’s colours.

Hunt and Jones will be joined in Fiji by Academy Level 1 players Filipe Manu and Justin Turner, Australian Schoolboys flyhalf Kyle Godwin, Cook Islands Sevens representative Koiatu Koiatu and the cream of the local club Sevens scene.

The team has been grouped with USA, Fiji Police and Fiji Army for the tournament, which begins on Thursday 21 January.

Coach Dwayne Nestor said the squad was a good mixture of contracted Emirates Western Force players, up and coming Academy players, and quality West Australian club players who have familiarity in the Sevens format.

“It will be a great learning experience for a lot of our young guys who haven’t had a great deal of Sevens experience,” Nestor said

“New arrivals to Perth such as Ted Postal, Luke Jones and Stefano Hunt will be looking to impress, while Koiatu Koiatu, from Wanneroo, is the most experienced Sevens player in the squad having played for the Cook Islands on the IRB circuit.

“We have a tough job being in a pool with USA, Fiji Police and Fiji Army, but the group has come together really well despite the limited preparation time.”

The team will play its first game is on the opening day of the tournament, with a further two pool matches on Friday. The finals take place on Saturday January 23. The Sevens side will wear the club’s recently unveiled blue and white alternate strip.

The squad is:

Conrad Gillingham (Wing) - Kalamunda
Justin Turner (Halfback) - Emirates Western Force / Associates
Flip Manu (Backrow) - Emirates Western Force / Palmyra
Stefano Hunt (Flyhalf) - Emirates Western Force / Associates
Luke Jones (Lock) - Emirates Western Force
Dion Berryman (Fullback) - Kalamunda
Ben Hales (Lock) - Associates
