Up the Guts

I can believe staff members are there but not saying/doing anything. I’ve witnessed first hand at another school within its own grounds. So it’s not just their behaviour to the opposition, it’s to each other.

No, they definitely do act at Shore. The HM isn't going to be sitting with the King's HM condoning alleged abuse of players. How the boys are abusing reserves sitting 50m away is beyond me though.

The HM, Deputy HM, Sportsmaster, Head of Pastoral Care, etc. all sit behind the boys in the grandstand at Shore. In what way is there no member of staff supervising these boys?
Ah nah-they all sit behind the glass in the upper part of the stadium! I understand boys will be boys but this stuff crossed the line and I noticed some of the shore supporters looking surprised. I’m pretty sure that these boys have never seen their first XV beat kings during their entire time in high school and this will probably continue if these events are reflective of the culture in the school. Enough said. Congrats to joeys. I hope these boys enjoy colts.....where boys from different schools and backgrounds will need to be team mates!

I was standing at the front of the grandstand, next to the boys. The deputy head was amongst the boys the whole time. I personally didn’t see anything but you’re right, the school doesn’t stand for it.

No, they sit in the first row of seating behind the benches.

Shore beat King's in 2014, so yes they've seen it (although, what that has to do with anything escapes me).

Still don't understand how you're sitting anywhere near year 12 Shore boys who all sit at the front of the grandstand and are 50 odd metres away from the reserves they're supposed to be abusing.

I went to university with the Deputy Head at Shore and I don't recall seeing him or Dr Wright in the stand. At Newington, the Shore boys have also been unsupervised as well. Or maybe the boys are just left alone without Shore Staff intervening.

But no School crowd is perfect, your dealing with Boys filled with hormones, that ensure common sense can be a rarity at times. As I said Shore boys by themselves are a credit to their school. The phenomena I am talking about is most evident in films concerning Nazi Germany, where a normally cultured, well behaviour people went off their heads under the emotional pressure directed at them when grouped into a crowd. (No, I am not comparing Shore Boys at Rugby matches, with the Nazi Nuremberg rallies).

By the way,The Newington pitch invasion of 2015 against View serves as an example that no school is perfect. In my experience Scots Old Boys at home, are possiblarly worse. Joeys and View Old boys when under the influence, can also be a bit over the top as well.

Bottom line, GPS Rugby arouses passions in all of us, that can be less than dignified.

Shore staff are always there. It's school policy. The Deputy HM is specifically in charge of controlling behaviour at home and away games.

Apparently there wasn’t much supervision of the boys during the 15A game though.

Dr Wright is at every home game. There is a reserved area in front of the glass in the back middle of the stand. Mr Morrison was right next to me today getting boys to pick up rubbish. There are usually 2-3 teachers sitting at the back of the stand every week and I go to every home game. Any assertion they are unsupervised at home isn’t right.

We're not talking about what allegedly happened at the 15As game. In any case, I'm sure there were staff there but it's impossible to stop an impromptu storming of the field.

I certainly wanted to train and tackle harder when I got abused by opposition. Even if 2014 is correct, these boys were in year 7, which they probably don’t remember. The front of the shore stand is about 3m away from the fence and the kings players were walking between the benches and stand. They were 10-15m away. I’m sure the school trys to police this stuff. It’s the boys.

Fantastic rugby at hunters hill

And agree that joeys defence was the deciding factor

As a neutral I did feel the red card to the Scots hooker ruined any chance of a come back

I would be keen to see if there was anything to justify red

It looked like handbags to me

On flip side the Speer tackle with 2 minutes to go, deserved red

Doesn’t matter that only 2 minutes left

If that was by the joeys hooker, he should be spoken to

No one wants to see another Alex noble

Anyways great game and joeys well deserved winners in 2019

Re shore behaviour... look a rabble is possible anywhere

It’s a full time job keeping teenager boys under control

And invariably it is just a minority of ratbags

Send footage in I say... I am sure Shore will deal with it appropriately

Wow, so the 'abuse' is a couple of players getting a jeer from the crowd as they walked past. Happens in every rugby game, everywhere, what a beatup.

Let's get back to the footy please.
At Riverview today at half time New up 15-10. F/T Riverview wins 32-29. In seconds and in a shortened game New 24 Riverview 17.
Glad Joeys won today and from what I've read $cots need to have a hard look at themselves.
Congratulations to all boys in all teams especially the boys at SHS. I really admire you blokes

Red card was deserved, Scots 2 threw numerous punches at the Joeys 2 on the ground. All 5 cards were justified, although Robinson deserved a red in the dying minutes aswell. Joeys won that game through their defence in the second half, what an effort

I was talking about it. Interesting reaction. If it happened at Newington I’d be appalled by it.

King's beat Shore 52-0.
Great effort from their supporters to get to the game (wooden spoon on the line) and fill their section of the grandstand. Best away team support I've seen at Northbridge all season.
From my obscured vantage point (RM Williams and chinos uniformed young Shore old boys in front of me) I saw Suali score two tries and give a slick pass for another. That lad can really motor with apparent ease.
Several changes by King's coaches towards the end of the game, particularly in the backs.

Of course my pedantic mind was full of the most pressing question of the day - why do they spell King's with an apostrophe on all their kit? "The" and "School" are assumed, and only one King is referred to?
