Wallabies 2023

I have seen this mentioned by a few people that have strangely made their mind up he was terrible in Super Rugby last year. Reality is he barely played Super Rugby last year after finishing the Japanese season, only got 2-3 games in for the Rebels. One of those games was against the Crusaders where he was sensational and lead to his call up to the national squad.

Prior to last year he was the leading try scorer in Super Rugby before it disbanded and moved to a domestic format. He then chose to take up a deal in Japan for 12months.
I’ll take that, as the Rebels aren’t my team I watch them less religiously than the Tahs (yes, even last year).

Wright is more dynamic than Kellaway but is too prone to brain explosions.

Kellaway demonstrated that he was the exact kind of player we need in the Wallabies. A reliable set of hands.
He has an arrogance about his play and a tendency to turn over the pill. In test rugby you need to respect the ball and the opposition. He could win or lose a game for you.
Koreibete and Kellaway offer perfect balance and starch. Petaia would be good off the bench as a back three reserve but we may actually see him start? Rennie most likely will start with Banks or Hodge but will no doubt be keeping an eye on Jordy.

Yep, Wright had a monster game against the crusaders on the weekend, but for all his brilliant kick returns intercepts, he still caught a kick off and run straight into FF (Folau Fainga'a)

I'm talking about Super Rugby options so only Petaia qualifies for me. I'm a HUGE Marika Koroibete supporter, I am the one who call for high profile NRL wingers to make the switch and Koroibete is that, so I'm glad with him. And the most important thing, Koroi has proved been one of the most dangerous wingers in the code, he could be a starter in ANY national team, even ABs
I am with you on targeting high profile nrl league wingers. And on that how about Joseph S coming back to rugby in time for rugby World Cup as I am sure people saw that aerial try in league he scored over the weekend. Bloody league stealing union players..

McLennan is a smart guy. I don't think they will necessarily chase them but the news will certainly have more leaguies/leaguie managers thinking about it how good a RWC and B&I lions tour would be.

I agree, he's like a young Izzy Folau. Was he 100% Rugby Union player or was a Mungo with a scolarship in Union?

got a scholarship and private school education so let’s claim him…minor detail what he did before his kings scholarship…
I think young wingers and centres are a good target, especially if they have Union knowledge. Don't waste your money in expensive super stars.

Fijians and Kiwis who are elegible for Australia are also a good target, they have rugby in their blood. Cowboys have poached some good prospects from NZ.

And if u are going to continue insisting with Aboriginal jerseys you have to target the next Josh Addo-Carr, the real one is expensive. It not makes sense to wear First Nations jerseys without Aboriginals in your squad

Why shouldn’t we chase Union juniors who have been poached by league?
That's the point and there are some Mungos who gets scolarships in private schools to play Union. They are the target, they are great athletes and know the code

Lets face it any mungo with talent who plays centre or outside back is worthy of consideration as their is a war for talent...and league certainly has no problem raiding rugby nurseries. Extra bonus is those players who have played union before joining league but not mandatory as real talented athletes like the Israel Folau's or Matt Rodgers can adapt. We just can't afford to be short sighted and I do get frustrated by those who say we should only look at those with union backgrounds. Sure they might be more the majority of what we look at but should not discount any outside centre or back in league if got the potential and right price from a risk reward perspective.

Bold of them to assume we would pick any of them to start with...
Kerevi is a walk in...probably Koroibete too. Cooper definitely makes the squad and probably in the 23 but been impressed with Noah this season who must be pushing for spot on the bench with JOC (James O'Connor) starting. Probably for me though is JOC (James O'Connor) starting with Cooper on the bench.

I was being sarcastic.

I'm fairly certain all three will end up starting those tests.

You have to search what you don't have in your code. For example, a wrecking ball. Kerevi is probably the only true wrecking ball at international level at the Wallabies backline. Withouth him the team plays in a very different way.

You have to target the next Jason Taumalolo. A second rower who could make the switch, the new SBW. Size is a concerned at Wallabies there, furthermore NRL centres are cheap if you compare with other positions.

I can't believe that Nadolo could have been a Wallaby lol

With a raft of new rules introduced over the last few seasons the game has moved to a fast-paced style and Riccio believes wingers are becoming more important, while the centres importance is fading.

“A winger in the modern game is more important to what the winger is in the modern game compared to 10 or 15 years ago,” Riccio said.

“We see in the Australian Test team, who plays five-eighth for the Raiders playing in the centre for Australia.

“I’m not saying it’s a dying art, the centre position, but it’s not what it used to be.

Cooper is a walk in to, JOC (James O'Connor) will be his starting back up, but I would have Noah as the bench unit

We need to have a young 10 getting game time and Noah is the best young 10 we have , we have others in the pipeline but they are further back
