ffs Goodhue looked slow and shitty considering he's been treated as the heir apparent to whatever backline position he wanted during the last 2 years of injury. Getting subbed for Braying Eeyore is not a flash look

Tate Mcdermott had some real skullbrained moments.

Oh well, at least it was in the balance til about the 60th minute
I have said for a while that I reckon Goodhue a little slow for 13, and is more a 12.
Tate didn't have his best game, wondered if perhaps he was alittle too fired up and trying to do or look for too much.

I also think after a night's sleep score would seem about right allowing for table positions. Reds were 7th, and perhaps a generous final series allowed them and Highlanders into finals in reality, so would almost be disappointing if either went through to semis.
Meant to say it was quite strange that McKay (I think ,Reds asst coach) when asked about srum struggles said yep we got no problems we getting done, so we suggesting dive on any dropped ball by Saders etc so we don't have to scrum. Sounded like they were almost conceding scrums?

Very disappointing season. Conceding 37 points in a sudden death final is unacceptable. Time to pick some players who can tackle. Jersey grabbing at this level? Watch the Brumbies who have been coached to hit shoulder first.

Play a tour? Get your players back to their clubs first.

And this is the issue that will pop up.

The Reds have no obligation to release the players to the clubs, as I understand. The Reds aren’t a representative team made up of QPR players, they are their own team. If they want to send the players on a tour, they can.

It would be interesting to see who would be available though/when they would do it and how it would impact clubland because with Aussie A team coming back, you’d imagine some of the out of form Reds Wallabies would get a run there.

And then of course there is the whole players union stuff, there are rules around how many games players can play per year etc.

Unfortunately the way of the world atm when it comes to talent in Australia.

The brumbies have similar losses after this year, and seemed to hold onto White and Noah with some last ditch efforts.

It is cyclical though, the Tahs will be picked apart over the next couple of seasons now that they’re likely to become most dominant Oz team.

You keep mentioning that they haven't won against a kiwi side (on multiple threads multiple times) they had a bad run, but did significantly better than force and rebels this season and on par with the Tah's so far. They also beat every Australian team twice in most cases.

Finished off poorly but will be back just don't see why you keep talking about not beating kiwis
Because Reds were positioned as one of top oz super rugby sides yet failed to me to prove that in the run home. And because yeh we set the benchmark against kiwi sides. Even thorn has stated that is the benchmark for the reds.

To me reds looked towards back end of the season they have fallen quite behind the brumbies as the latter as the benchmark. Given see higher benchmark for reds yeh I thought they were disappointing vs expectations. Force and rebels don’t have same expectations associated with them.

And lastly you do know I am a tahs supporter lol…

The Reds did not play like a finals contender. Okay, they had key players out, players that could not be replaced at the right level. But really the Reds should be in the top two Australian franchises.
One thing that struck me a little strange in after match interviews both Wright and Thorn sounded like (especially Wright) their goal was just to be close at 50-60 minute mark. Probably wasn't what they felt but Wright actually said they were aiming to be close at around 50 min mark? I may have heard wrong. But I remember thinking it a strnge thing to say.

Also I did note last night Sam Whitelock getting back into it af finals get here, stealing a couple of lineout balls, looked good in defence, and carrying a bit.

Tahs are back baby…this year was the awakening…next year is world domination and in anticipation I have been raiding the dismal gif library ready for lots of rockets, explosions and all praise to the mighty world beating tahs for next season. You reds fans are going to love it…ok nah…

Maybe they accept reality, did anyone really believe that the Reds would actually win? I think some think they had a chance, but it was a very slim one that probably relied on a couple of Crusaders players being given cards.

Obviously I wanted to see them win the game, but if they had lost by 10 or less then I think they would have out performed my expectations for this game.

It is odd that a coach and captain would admit to this though

Is it? the disparity in resources and playing stock is stark. Be rough for Thorn to say that he expected a win.
