Personally I think Jonny is a traitor. He could support both codes FFS

Okay with Sua'ali'i'i coming across, choose your young ten with the best cross field kick sign him to 3 years, start him practicing with Nawaqanitawase and Jorgensen and then bam 2025 you have a back three of Sua'ali'i'i, Nawaqanitawase & Jorgensen. Will be best aerial attack in the comp. Try and hold on to Perese and Foketi and that's pretty tantalising.

We need a proper second row to winning the competition

Not going to lie. I'm having some unmentionable thoughts about that potential backline.

Yeah looks like I was wide of the mark. $1.6m must put him up there with the highest paid Union players in the world, no?

He was being paid by Souths under a development deal

My concern with him is that he wasn't bothered to provide some commitment to Souths despite their investment, took the bigger, better deal with the roosters and is now in news constantly about other offers.

Why would you want the invest in him? If he signed, the following day there would likely be new rumours about him going elsewhere weekly for the length of his contract
Agreed. Young Jorgenson decided rugby first although NRL wanted him. Now this talk of 1.6 million for a bloke who like you said brushed Souths for the Roosters and now possibly changing to rugby. Talk of playing at fullback for the Waratahs. Sorry Jorgo for your loyalty! Actually I agree with old Derps on this one. Is young Joseph that good? Hasn’t worked out for Vunivalu so far?

It's basically 2 years away if the reports are true; honestly, a lot can happen between now and then. Personally, I think he would be a waste of money, but I'll reserve judgment until ...2025

In the meantime, there is lots of talent and games to watch, including my new favourite player Gleeson

I must admit i am a bit confused how this works within a salary cap though given the rumours around a new CBA and central contrating agreement. Are all RA top-ups excluded from a salary cap? How much of his salary will count towards a salary cap at the Tahs?

Compared to the concern over equality (of the top up) this is an interesting query. How are third party payments treated under the cap? I would presume that they are included? If that is the case it will impact the Waratah roster.

Yeah. It is confusing. IIRC Vunivalu came over to rugby with a large chunk of his salary under an ARU top up, but can't remember the details nor how much. Apart from Hooper, the Tahs don't have any huge profile players on the big bucks. I think any Super Rugby franchise would have a lot left over if they paid 1.5m in full for a single player , so guessing ARU top ups and possibly 3rd party payments may be exempt?

Looks like Hooper won't be resting anytime soon:

Not sure how I feel about this. I'm glad there is flexibility in the resting protocols but there was a reason they reached an agreement with the super sides ahead of the season. Having it altered like this ahead of a derby after the Brumbies have already rested on mass may strain the relationships between RA and the super sides going forward, at a time when they're trying to get everyone on the same page.
