    Reds 2018

If nothing else it's very apparent that the Reds need better controls around when they can terminate a contract and a reduced pay packet if they aren't being picked to play.

4 positions I asked the question of, you have ONE answer for one of them, and that's taking our 13 playing them at 12 and ignoring the hole that leaves at 13.

Then what is our depth chart at flyhalf, at scrum half, hooker, and fullback? What is our best back row configuration (I'll concede this because we didn't have Pocock last year)? Can Tupou start? Can AAA play LHP and THP? Who other than Beale can play 12 if he's playing 10 should Foley go down...

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Like I said, it's not the number of players, it's the number of question marks we have either for a first option or a second. Hooker, halfback, flyhalf, many people would like to see Folau tried on the wing, our back row structure (persisting far too long with Haingan). 13 appears to be settled...

Not I, at least not about the second row. But there has been a lot of exploration of the second row and we now have an idea of our second row pecking order. I'm not necessarily advocating for constantly changing sides for the sake of it, but exploring options where we have question-marks.

As I said, New Zealand were tinkering constantly since the RWC, and do much of their tinkering via the bench, by actually testing guys from the bench; Cheika often doesn't really test guys from the bench. We have massive question marks around halfback, fly half, hooker, back row, prop - can...

Perhaps overly safe to stick with the same 15. Not a bad decision by any means, but a little bit of tinkering (like the Kiwi's often use) is by no means a bad thing. I feel like Cheika is a little too hesitant to make any changes after a win. Looking at the best teams in the world (mostly the...

His track record of storming off/ running away from referees when his team has disiplen issues, of having terrable communication with referees (although next to Moore he's very good). Hooper pleading with his team to improve their disiplen and his team promptly giving away cards because they...

This has nothing to do with his leadership so far as a captain of the Wallabies goes, sure he might be a good guy, but his track record with the Waratahs and Wallabies last year shows otherwise.

I'm not saying Stewart or Mason are anywhere near as good as Foley is, but in terms of the role he played either Mason or Stewart could do what he was doing. Foley was doing nothing more than passing to Beale. He did almost no playmaking and didn't threaten the line.

I'm not sure that Stewart or Mason couldn't do what Foley is currently doing (outside the Goal kicking, but Beale and Hodge can kick goal), he's basically nothing more than a relay to Beale.

I don't disagree at all, but I do think moving Beale out of 12 and into 10 would let us use a different strength, likely Kerevi at 12 and Kurandrani at 13 (or Hodge at 13 in that Crotty role).

    The Wallabies Thread

No one, well just play with 14. ;) But I think if Foley goes down during a game, we push Beale to 10 (standing wider/deeper than Foley is currently) and shuffle the backline from there, we could go with Hodge at 10 but that's hardly a long term solution. For the following game, it's completely...

How else does Hanigan have nearly 800 minuets of test rugby, last year it was painfully obvious to literally everyone that Hanigan wasn't up to test rugby, yet he keep getting picked, sure there are a lack of alternatives but even Simmons was better when played in the same role at 6. And...

    The Wallabies Thread

I think there is a big difference between 'a couple of games' and what Ned played last year. I think most people would have been fine with Hanigan had he been played for 2 or 3 games, perhaps been brought off the bench a bit, but had something like 10 starts playing close to the full 80 in most...

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

I don't disagree, that we won't have the same 23, but a few examples are: Tupou is pretty close to pushing his way into the starting 3 jersey. Robinson could easily be replaced by Ala'alatoa. Simmons could be replaced by Arnold. We could change to a 5/3 bench split given Beale has a...

Koro is an interesting one, I've seen people who have said he was trash, others who have said he was outstanding, I think all in all he was solid - he looked very good in defence but didn't get it done in attack (or at least as much as he ought to have).

Yeah, I think with Timu give him time, he's only had one game. He did well in defence and really made his tackles count. He'll come good.

Um, do we just never jump at any line-out ever?! We can not have Samu, Hooper and Pocock in the same back row, even if we have the best line-out locks in the world, quality can only take you so far without quantity. Cheika isn't going to make any changes to the XV, but the only spots he'd...

Don't disagree, but a winger with Koro's skill set has to finish at least one of those two. As I sad he did face very good Irish defence, but he really should have finished one of them.
