Ashes 2021-22

If they want like for like, it could possibly be Neser, but I think Richardson would be hard done by to not get picked, he's done enough to warrant selection.

Don’t mind who they pick out of Richardson or Nesser, I think both are capable of dismissing anyone in the English side. I think whether Warner plays or not is a much bigger concern, in a day night test you really want a player like him that can accelerate the scoring rate during the day session.

Day 2 is going to be a scorcher by the looks.

Day 2 is going to be a scorcher by the looks.

At least with it being a day/night test it won't stay that hot for long.

Being close to the desert it's amazing how quickly the temperature drops in the evening.

We went to the Adelaide test in 2012 against South Africa (the one that ended with a draw with the epic knocks from Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers to save the match).

Day 2 was high 30s and we were on the hill with zero shade or protection all day. It was brutal. It was during the renovation so the only grandstand open was the members. All the public seats were the hill and the uncovered seats in front of it.

It's a dry heat.

Adelaide can suffer the odd hot overnighter if the conditions are right of course.

Cummins Possibly to miss Second Test - apparently Cummins was out at a restaurant in Adelaide last night, and a patron at the next table had been identified as a COVID case. Cummins left immediately, but as he could be classified as a close contact, under SA COVID regs he needs to isolate for 7 days - therefore he probably won't play. More to come........

Cummins out, Neser in. Smith captain and Head VC.

What a debacle!

How would you feel being the person who travelled to Adelaide to watch the cricket and now not only can't you go because you have COVID but you've also ruled out the Australian captain.

From this article:

A bunch of club cricketers were at the same restaurant. One went over to say hi to Pat's dining companion. He went back to his table and then got his COVID test restults. What a dick.

Don't know about the rest of the country, but up here in QLD if you have a COVID test you're actually meant to isolate until you get the result not go out socializing
One of the club cricketers received a message that his Covid test had come back positive and left, but his friends remained.

That's the rule here in NSW - get a COVID test, need to isolate until a negative, and that means go home, do not pass the pub/shops etc.

The current rule for visitors to SA from NSW/VIC/ACT is that you need to have a negative COVID test in the 72 hours before you leave, then quarantine when you arrive but only until you have taken another COVID test (and there is a testing station at the airport). You don't have to wait for the test results. One assumes the bloke didn't have the COVID test because he was feeling crook but because he'd come from interstate, and he was asymptomatic when he went out.

And let's hope we don't need Harris to score runs in the second innings.

i.e. let's hope we bat once, and all move onto Khawaja for Boxing Day.

Jeez England's over rate is abysmal. Captains need to start getting suspended for this stuff.

They should be credited an over for the time lost on that ridiculous bat-pad/ pad-bat review which could've been done & dusted in 30 seconds if they'd first confirmed that it pitched outside leg. Surely you look at the elements of the dismissal or otherwise in the order they occur?
1. Fair delivery? If yes
2. Pitched in line? If yes
3. Did he hit it? If no
4. Was he struck outside the line of off? If no
5. Would it have hit the stumps?
Any contrary answer is Not Out. Simples, really.
