Season format idea (may well have been touted previously)….

Easter holidays and first ~3 weeks of Term 2: friendlies/trials between any schools regardless of association (up to schools to organise, some great traditional matchups like Knox V Joeys on Gala Day)

~Weeks 4-8 Term 2: AAGPS, CAS, CHS, ISA, CCC, AICES, etc run their (~5 game) inter Association Championships - first past the post wins, with table (of weighted points for each team; eg a win in 1st XV gets 50 points, win in 13DS gets 5 points) giving a ranking for Term 3 NSW Schools Championships Cup/Plate/Bowl

Mid Year Holidays: tours and camps

Term 3: using tables from the Term 2 Association Championships, schools get seeded into 32 school “NSW Schools Championships” that runs over 6 weeks (home and away rights drawn out of hat each week, losers week 1 go into bowl comp, losers week 2 go into plate comp etc)

Top NSW School goes and plays a 5 day tournament vs top school from each of the other States after HSC Exams….

Feel we need to do something different at a total Schools level

Agreed… people who take trials as serious as comp games are just weird.

in no other sport/ comp does this happen.
The boys are used to it. They play years of "trials" before they get to one of the big teams in the Opens. Some boys never play a competition game of rugby at school.

Anyone think the pushing of making 13-16A teams a competition would be good?

Every team rather the 4ths or 13Bs try to follow a schedule and have ‘unofficial comp games’ so if it’s round 2 in the 1st it’s round 2 in the 4ths even tho they play for nothing.

Certainly a lot of talent in the 14's and 13's it would also be great to see some form of competition for them. It also seams to be pretty even age groups with many upsets throughout the season.

u16's is a very interesting year group, As usually produce very close matches, hard to tell who has the edge going into the Opens but from the bottom up (u13s - 16s) most promising appear to be Joeys, Shore and Scots

Totally agree, it will very interesting next year seeing how Scots Forward pack will go led by Brial. I think if they can provide a good base they will be the team to beat next year.

A game to keep an eye for this week is Joeys 15a's vs Kings 15a's, kings are a very TALENted team with a powerful forward pack and some gun backs. This kings side has been on a massive come up this year and they'll go up against undoubtedly their biggest challenge yet in a Joeys side who I believe have only suffered one loss since year 7 which was against the Scots 14a's last year. Joeys are a very well drilled and structured team who have a lot of talent but a few less big names. Excited to see the results out of this game.

what was the score ?

Heard joeys 4ths are currently the team to beat and vsing kings this weekend who are aswell undefeated.
I heard that Riverview 4ths didn't play their best game against Joeys. Joeys are a good team.

View had only just narrowly lost to Kings the weekend before by 4 points (4 tries a piece however View missed 3 conversions). They are a team of ticker and a great bunch of boys. Shame they went down on the weekend.

Alot of organising would be in order but that is one of the best ideas i've seen on these forums so far.
