it wasnt meant to be one side takes all.
It is about sharing the spoils.
The clubs give a little for the greater good or, like in the past, the hierarchy rape them by hitting exorbitant fees / registrations etc.
A deal that was done successfully on the Darling Downs was the club gets the gate covercharge / ticket @ $5 a head (which they provided volunteers to man the gate) then the DDRU got the food and drink sales.
Of course the clubs can also run a merchandise stand and so can the QRU.
Have you worked at any of the clubs in Brisbane?
They aren’t exactly in a financial position to be giving up match-day income ‘spoils’ just to maintain a stadium at Ballymore because people like the romance and nostalgia of the idea.
Fact is Ballymore needs to find revenue streams outside of hosting crowds. It needs to commercialise some of the space for regular recurring revenue, and market itself to other sports and events.
That’s how Ballymore will survive, not by making clubs give up their own matchday income.
If you want to shoot down any new / different / innovative idea then I would suggest you sir are part of the problem rather than part of the solution.
Forcing club games to Ballymore and reducing club revenue isn’t innovative by sharing the ‘spoils’, it’s robbing Peter to pay Paul.
