I'd agree. Although Padua are a bit under strength with big names such as Collins and debortolli likely out due to injury. I say padua step up at home.
I'd have to agree with you there Marist at home will be to strong especially with there recent results should be a good game though .

I'm very interested to see how young Sam Collins goes this week for the Padua 1st XV. I have been hearing good things about this kid, he is coming off of a stellar performance against Peters in the 16A's on the weekend. Got his first taste of 1st XV action on the weekend, and for a little guy boy does he muscle up in defence, brother of prospect Lindsay Collins, my tip is to watch out for a big game from this kid.
I guess a life of backyard footy with Lindsey as a big brother couldn't hurt a little mans defensive game. Despite this game being of little importance now that both sides are just about out of contention. If he can perform he will lock up a spot for the next two years. And I fancy padua to be a genuine premiership side next year
Will be a good attacking game to watch with the likes of Treleavan, Devine and Manning coming up against Humphries and Setu in the backs. But I think the Ashgrove pack has the potential to roll over eddies to get them the win. But should be a very exciting game, potential to be the game of the season if both teams play well.
Yes I think as long as the Marist back line can contain the eddies backline then the Marist forwards will get them the win
It will determine if they really can take the comp out this year big end to the season for them it starts this week with eddies.
Does anyone have any reports on how the Peters - Padua game rolled out? I presume that Peters won comfortably but not sure.
I also think the Peters - Marist game will be of pretty good quality. Last years was a cracker and was the catalyst for them taking out the season. Marist will be keen for revenge and there is always a degree of animosity between the two stemming from the all in brawl in 2000.

Padua were in it for the first thirty a late intercept to a peters winger turned the tides putting peters ahead and they ran away with it from there.
Padua were right in it in the first half and were down 12-5. They had a huge opportunity after a peters error gave them the ball inside the 22. With a huge overlap (3 on 1) they looked certain to score but the winger from peters took an intercept and ran 100 metres to score. Not long after Lindsey Collins went down with an ankle injury and padua never recovered.

They have certainly come into this season riding some big preseason expectations. Marist have always been a tough outfit and this year really have their eyes set on the ultimate prize, and so far this season have shown that they can go all the way. They have a pack that is focused and the squad seems to be one of the better that Marist have produced in the last couple of years. I will give special mention to James Lancashire, gutsy forward with a good solid build tends to fly under the radar a bit, but is in the mix non the less, does not get the exposure that he deserves as he is not a very flashy player, but I grinding and hardworking one. This Marist team really is a force to be reckoned with.

Right on the money with Lancashire, a consistently high level player who is also an incredible asset for Ashgrove at the lineout. Ashgrove will certainly have their eyes on the title after losing the premiership by a single point in the game against SPLC last year.
In my opinion, not being a flashy player is a good quality when in the forwards as most of the hard forward work is done at the breakdown. Leave the fancy footwork for the backs.

Yes I agree, i meant that Lancashire isn't a name spoken about as much as say a flashy back would. He is a real workhorse around the ruck and certainly adds an X factor to the line out and scrum. Others teams should be taking note as I believe he is the core of that team.
Along with Lancashire is number 8 pat beverage who also is in grade 11 and will bring great experience next year to the side. I noticed in the early predictions for the Marist squad he was not mentioned but has definitely proved himself. Much like James Lancashire he flies under the radar but gets busy at the breakdown. Definitely a tandom to watch out for next year
All of the young Marist forwards have a great role model in superstar Sam clarke as he is a shoe In for AIC ones. Should definitely learn as much as they can this year from him

Personally lancashires ability at the break down is not the strongest part of his game, rarely finding himself involved in the rucks and malls but only to be found standing flat footed in the back line. But lancashire has a strong brutality in lineouts wining most oposition ball and securing ball for ashgrove. Will be interesting to see how he plays against a more competitive team like eddys.
