Bonnie Doon - Vic. Great place to visit and leave The Castle behind for a weekend away at the Holiday Home. On the banks of Lake Eildon, it is considered by many of holiday home owners here as being one of the most serene places in Australia.

Pies and Wine is BYO. Rugby almost unknown that side of the Mexican border.

Been waiting a while to get this town officially recognised.

Named after Tom Bowmans great grandfather owning land here in the late 1800's , Bowman is just outside of Gloucester. There is a good pie shop. A good pub and a couple of good coffee shops. It isn't quite the home of the Gloucester Cockies RUFC, but its bloody close to there

Explained in post #468. Because Iron Knob had been previously used, it was not a legit lead in to Bonnie Doon, therefore Bonnie Doon was Yellow Carded (able to be used again), and Islington used to link instead of the Iron Knob-Bonnie Doon combination. The chain link was restored

BTW, I've even had to Red Card a couple of my own early entries, <newbie embarrassment> before I discovered the "search this thread" check box functionality.

On a side note, I hear on the radio this morning that Bland Shire (around West Wyalong) is thinking about arranging sister city relationships with Dull, Scotland and Boring, Maryland, USA.

Have to think about Bland as a Shire in the towns/suburbs game. I think it may fail the test.
I was unable to enter Mount Buggery Vic which is a geographic feature, but would have been a bonza entry in any other circumstances.
Bowman (good entry) stays under Yellow Card action - Able to be used later. Bloody hard to get a town/suburb ending in B as a lead in though. Can you believe the practicality of Garden Suburb though?


Gloucester Cockies RUFC - good name. Worthy of an entry in the "Proud of My Club" thread.

NORAH HEAD - NSW

Home to a BRILLIANT pie shop!!!!! Make it a stop. I guarantee you will go back for a second, or third if you are a real footy player (aka forward). Family run and the guy surfs so if the waves are good the pies will be scarce. Closest Rugby club lies to the south at The Entrance. There is also Warnervale, but I wouldn't like to drag my nuts that far to get there.
Home to the Norah Head Lighthouse and an absolute shit load of bogans. We are talking the Central Coast here folks. In the surfing side of things there is Soldiers Beach and here the time honoured practice of Grommet bashing is proudly upheld. Nothing like seeing a snowy headed surf rat gaffer taped to a telegraph pole
As far as the rest of it goes, it is again your typical coastal town. Inbred, slack jawed and still better than auburn

Ashwood - Vic. The suburb home to the Harlequins RFC. Founded in 1928 and current Dewars Shield holders. You can get a good pie at the canteen but the egg and bacon rolls are far better.

Rugby fix from the Casino Bulls for the young and able, or the Casino Crocs for the old and gold. Gastronomic support and viticultural supplies from Casino.

THE ENTRANCE - NSW

Nannas with tatt's, bogans that have migrated. It really is a hole. The best thing to come out of here is the lake. At Christmas time the fishermen stand shoulder to shoulder and throw nothing back until some of the local lads tip their buckets back in. There are 2 pubs in town. The top pub and the bottom pub. Both are easier to get a fight in than a feed. The pie shop should be blown up as I cracked a tooth on one there.
A lovely little coffee shop is there though called the surfshack? Right next door to a tattoo shop (go figure?) opposite The Dirty Bird (KFC) A mum and daughter run shop will send you away with a smile and avery full belly. In summer Auburn moves here

Being a Noraville lad I can tell you that it is a beautiful place, though I agree with your comment about the locals (wasn't born there myself so not inbred). The closest actual rugby club is 5 minutes north, located in Budgewoi - Northlakes Wallabies. The interesting thing about this club is that it is full of expat Kiwis.

It was incorrectly mentioned in the Norah Head thread but the nearest rugby club is the (wish they were with all my heart) Rams, nominally from The Entrance but actually located in Joseph Banks Drive Bateau Bay. Excellent club to be involved with if you move to the coast and are looking to have a run.
