Hill Top - NSW. Southern Highlands town about 10 off the Hume. Do not get confused thinking that this is the centre of the Hilltops Wine Region which is producing some exciting Shiraz that would not be out of place in in the St Leonard's Boardroom Cellar. Still some exciting wines coming out of nearby wineries in the Southern Highlands.

<snip>

Is the poor cousin of Yabba South, and a distant relation of Bedrock ( fill em in HJ). <snip>

Towns mentioned in the text of the explanation/trivia do not count as an official entry and they can be used at a later time. Can't fill 'em in until they are used in accordance with the rules.

Good luck with finding a "B" ending to lead in for Bedrock. These aren't too many of these.

Next Town is a "P" from Hill Top.

(P from a Hill Top, does that remind anyone of the time they took a P off a bridge - a really high bridge [or secret desire to do so] ).

PYREE - NSW
A beautiful little Red Shed stands on the corner, it is old and shows age of a time gone by. "The Pyree school of Literature and Music" I think is its title.
All it makes me think of is that one of the kids 90 years ago could not play piano for a bet. Some of the most beautiful dairy country near the sea you will ever come across. Head south east out of Nowra, stopping at the Pie shop there because they are bloody great. And head for Culburra/ Currarong and you will come across Pyree. Jersey cows in verdant green paddocks and homesteads abound.
As far as footy goes, in Rugby circles you had the Watts brothers Fox and Chris. Who were bloody great players for Eastwood and country respectively. Hard men from the land. Chris' young blokes weren't too shabby either. As far as comparisons to auburn goes. Hahahahaha

That promising backline move came to a complete halt when HJ took his eyes off the ball, and knocked the pill on after @Gristlechewer gave the sweetest pass having drawn in two defenders.

"Fill em in" was taken to mean "tick the towns off" not "tell them about the Flintstones reference".
Looking at some of the beautiful names for some of our towns and suburbs, so far rolled out on this thread, "Bedrock" is plausible. :)

Next Town is a "E" from Pyree.

Eidsvold: In the beef-raising Burnett region of Queensland. Wikipedia tells me it's name is Norwegian. That's all I know.

Dural - NSW. Dural Junior Rugby Club has produced Benn Robinson for the Wobs and James Hilgendorf for the Woodies. Plenty of junk food joints here to satisfy the young folk on the way back to the city after a game of footy. KFC, MacD's and Burger King. Pies - Can only recall scalding hot Mrs Mac's at the Servo.

Kapooka - NSW. All Army recruits spend time in Blamey Barracks here for their basic training.

A few km south west of the sporting capital of the western world, Wagga Wagga. BUT, far more importantly, on the road to Uranquinty home of the famous 'Quinty Pie Shop. Posters here and on the pie thread have rabbited on about good pies here and there but there few pies anywhere better than those from the 'Quinty Pie Shop. Didja know there are even bus tours from Wagga to take tourists to the famous 'Quinty Pie Shop?

Best to avoid Hill Top, home to many Milats of Belanglo State Forest fame.

On the wine front: some very good Rieslings coming out of the Southern Highlands, try Artemis and Tertini. Anything from Centennial Vineyards (on the western outskirts of Bowral) is worth trying, it was established by a very rich bloke who made his fortune in Cellarmasters. CV's Tempranillo and sparkling wines are especially good.

East Intercourse Island - WA. Part of the port of Dampier. This is Gold. Nearby is Intercourse Island, East Mid Intercourse Island, West Mid Intercourse Island, West Intercourse Island, and the much smaller Haycock Island. Presumably there is an Intercourse Passage to get in and out of the Port. With so much Intercourse around nearby, there is little need to know the Pie, Wine, or Rugby related coefficients for this area. For @Gristlechewer, Intercourse (East, West or Mid - anyway you can get it) must be better than Auburn.

Daandine, Qld. On the way to Condamine from Dalby, as you pass over Wilkie's Creek. Originally a large grazing property now home to two power stations, a coal mine and many, many coal seam gas wells.

What can I say? I heard Pie Island was opening as well as Good Red and Beer Island too.
Heaven.

ETTRICK - NSW

This place was named by an old Jaarpie who moved here years ago.Apparently it means three wickets in a row in Afrikaans :)
In the North eastern hinterland near Lismore, the only thing you find here are feral cats, feral goats, feral dogs, feral kids and feral men and women.
A great place to go and score some north coast marry juannna. Don't pay for it, just steal it like everyone else4 does up here. Everything else about the area as far as food, beverage and footy has already been mentioned. A lot of the cash crop from here, gets sold in auburn

Killara, Sydney NSW, yet another suburb from my childhood, and more BBQ memories at my cousins' place there, but also of wonderful flaky pies being brought there as well, can't recollect whereabouts they came from exactly!

It's one half of the Killara-West Pymble rugby club which was fairly strong in the 80's, being in the 2nd tier of the Subbies then.

Amaroo - ACT. Typical bland Stepford Wives designer type Canberra suburb. First place in ACT to get the NBN. Amaroo Park was a former Motor Racing circuit in West Sydney, now part of a bland housing estate not unlike its namesake in the ACT. The last finisher in the last ever race at Amaroo Park on 23 August 1998 was Andrew Papadopoulus.

last of the corrections for red Cards

Eugowra (previously joining Terry Hie Hie and Ayr) has been issued a Red Card.
This instance of Eugowra is to be replaced with:
Eureka - Vic. Not to be confused with previous entry of Eureka – NSW. A rather historically significant event occurred in this Ballarat suburb in 1854. The Eureka Rebellian/Stockade has come to be variously interpreted by many in the political arena to suit the message they are trying to push. The events of 1854 may explain why many Australians subscribe to the ABE philosophy when it comes to sporting contests. Many would push for the flag flown here to be adopted as the national flag.

Nindingully (previously joining Shepparton and Yarralumla) has been issued a Red Card.
This instance of Nindingully is to be replaced with:
North Sydney - NSW. Some would say that this is the 4th biggest CBD in the country. Rugby fix from Norths Pirates Juniors, Northern Suburbs Rugby, and Shore and St Aloysius schools. Who needs pies when you can get an awesome sambo from the little sandwich shop at the bottom of Mount Street?

Ilfracombe (previously joining San Souci and Elgin) has been issued a Red Card.
This instance of Ilfracombe is to be replaced with:
Ivanhoe – NSW. Not to be confused with the previous entry of Ivanhoe - VIC. Far Western town on the Cobb highway between Balranald and Wilcannia. Often features on the daily TV weather reports as the hottest place in NSW. Passed through here once not stopping for food, but there is a RSL in town which should be able to provide a basic feed.

Nagambie (previously joining North Narrabeen and East Nanango) has been issued a Red Card.
This instance of Nagambie is to be replaced with:
Nudgee – QLD. St Josephs Nudgee College AKA Nudgee isn’t here. It is 6km away in Boondall. They play rugby there.

Eltham (previously joining Nagambie and Mungallala) has been issued a Red Card.
This instance of Eltham is to be replaced with:
East Seaham. East of Seaham on the Williams river in the Hunter. Nearest rugby fix would be the East Maitland Eagles.

Yandina (previously joining Eggs and Bacon Bay and Ashford) has been issued a Red Card.
This instance of Yandina is to be replaced with:
Yattalunga – NSW. Smallest suburb on the Central Coast. @Gristlechewer has the actual figures for the Summer Holiday Bogan and Cougar Coefficients for this suburb, but believed to be quite high.

This completes the corrections required to the chain as the result of the red cards issued at post #797 on page 40. The chain is now complete from Wagga Wagga to Obi Obi.

Next Town is an I from Obi Obi.

Innes View - NSW. It has a postcode, 2429 and a view. For first home buyers, houses here are cheap, real cheap. Not that there are many, but a roof over your head can be acquired for about $200k-$300k. You would have to like serenity to buy here. BYO everything.

Wonglepong, Qld. Gold Coast Hinterland town that in the olden days was known as Sarah Vale. Some would say that Sarah was the mother of McLaren who is the G&GR sponsor and brewer of many fine ales.
