I thought it too was an excellent game, however was dissapointed that knox didnt come away with the win. i cant believe that winger mitchell was giving the middle finger up to the whole knox crowd and old boys, regardless of what happens you dont do that! was expecting his coach to pull him off for that, but nothing!

Stuart Goodman was perhaps lucky to stay on the field after the altercation, however it was very surprising no action was taken against the Knox boys considering the shoulder charge on Barker #10 S.Hayter and the fact that a good majority of the Knox boys were also throwing punches. I agree T. Mitchell's attitude is terrible, he should receive some sort of punishment from the Barker staff for his terrible sportsmanship. Player of the match IMO would also have to go to S.Figg, with Stuart Goodman closely behind despite his lashing out and throwing punches. I also thought #11 N. Scarano also played very well for the Knox boys.

Could this be the same crowd that booed and hissed last year as the Waverley kicker attempted a conversion and then laughed and jeered when he muffed it?

Thanks Tim for expressing what many fair minded rugby supporters have felt for many a year.

I hadn't been to a CAS rugby game for many years. I actually attended because of the following game; Woodies v Highlanders. However I was surprised to hear the BS chanting from the Barker crowd and other loud insults towards the referee. Obviously from your comments it appears to be not confined to just Barker supporters.

I have attended many CHS games and I can tell you that if I was verbally abusing the referee from the sidelines or chanting "BS" I would be spoken to by the teachers quick smart. I have seen it happen at some games where some of the students say silly things in support of the team but they are quickly pulled up by the teachers.

Waverley dominated Cranbrook 48-0 which was abit bad to watch if you were a Cranbrook fan as it was their last home game and to get it handed to them, pity Waverley couldnt produce the goods at the start of the season.

Missed the Knox/ Barker game, even with my brother-in-law being an ex-Barker school captain! And a nephew playing strong in some obscure prep school side (hope my sister doesn't read this). Undoubtedly Barker was far too good this year for the CAS this year, but also the fact that there may have been some poor sportmanship from the Barker crowd may have been expected due to the fact that , however good a certain player is, he is a yellow/ red card specialist and that sort of attitude has been championed by the school. Victory is the the thing, whatever cost! Though I am sure any other school would want the same said player...By all reports a great player and good leader. Perhaps playing outside the hothouse school environment he will get rid of this unfortunate habit and move onto bigger and better things.

ok mate well first of all, it wasnt event the one that u were thinking of that got sent off, it was actually his brother, no cards to date this year. secondly, the knox players had just as many people in there throwing punches and were more than lucky not to get at least one person marched to waterboy for next week. having attended both knox and barker, i can say with experience that knoxs "win at whatever cost" attitude if far greater and in much more depth than that of Barker colleges.

Point taken and fair enough....I wasn't there so I was probably a little harsh. And I agree with you about the attitude of knox some times (actually too many times.) But I think that the person I am talking about has got a great future but he probably needs to tone down some of his "exuberance". Though that will happen away from school next year, where he is so dominant and visible. And from watching the Wallabies they probably need some of that style player: hard, uncompromising and full of heart.

Perhaps moving on to this week's games.
Any one with any thoughts? Barker v Waverly the pick. Aloys could easily ambush Knox. Cranbrook over Trinity in a close, but possibly quite entertaining game.

Though two things, the season seems to be ridiculously short these days..the first full week of August and it is over.

And a general warning: the Vintage Cellars Yarra Pinot Noir is brutal. Insipid and meandering at the time, but residual effects are toxic and disturbing. A full serve at the frontal lobes is the result and no cheerful lingering satisfaction.
