Next cab of the rank behind AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) for OC for mine. Him being out of the Reds is one of the biggest single losses they could have - behind only Genia and Cooper. Considering the position of the Reds I think that says a lot about him.

I think he's been very solid for the Reds, but I don't see him as a test class 12, at least not yet. As backup for AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in the 13 jersey, definitely a yes on that, as they are similar kinds of players.

Nonu and Smith for the All Blacks, JDV and Fourie for the Boks, D'arcy and BOD for the Irish, Hape and Tindall for Engerland. It's a WC, coaches don't start messing around with combinations unless they absolutely have to.

Ma'a Nonu plays at 12 as well.

I've liked Jared Payne but I don't think he'll make the ABs this year (or next year as he's heading off overseas). I think Richard Kahui and Conrad Smith will be ahead of Payne in the selectors view. he's also been a bit average since Toeava's been injured....mind you, I could probably say that for the entire Blues backline :(

It's the English, the concept of a bolter is utterly foreign to them. That and his stocks fell quite a bit after his fairly unprovoked assault on Ashton. He'll make the squad, but I'd be completely shocked if he was a starting player for any serious game.

ACC showed enough on Saturday night against the Reds that he should not be forgotten.

Although he was on the wing... he showed that he is playing himself back into some form.

McCabe also showed why he'd be a handy backline versatility. While he may not be a front-runner for a starting position, he'd be handy off the bench / starting in some of the pool games (Russia / USA).

Where do see JOC (James O'Connor) playing long term? Part of Beale's move to the Rebels is that he plays at 10.. Surely O'Conner can't be looking at the 10 jersey with Gits, QC (Quade Cooper) and KB (Kurtley Beale) all wanting the spot. Beales decision could hurt him long term if another fullback comes through the ranks such as morahan or lucas.

I wouldn't be against JOC (James O'Connor) moving to 12 long term. Improve his defending a little, and with his speed and kicking he could be a quality IC. That would allow for someone likes Hynes, Davies or a specialist winger to make the team. Gits would be a boost off the bench, in saying that though so would Barnes.

I would hate to be in your shoes Robbie.

I dont know how anyone could argue Herbert and Nathan Grey were not 'world class'. Whilst I accept they were far from complete players they were certainly world class. Herbert was a member of 99 WC team. Herbert pushed Little out of the team for a long time. Played 67 tests for Aus. Made the 99 Team of the WC. Was a QLD Captain and Wallaby VC. Beat the British Lions in 2001. Whilst Grey, some would say was more limited, still managed to play flh half for Aus and beat the Lions in 2001. Knocked out 35 tests and both were vital part of the 'Golden Era' of Australian Rugby which celebrated a World Cup victory, a British Lions series victory, a Tri-Nations Trophy and five consecutive Bledisloe Cups.

Skippy, absolutely on Herbert. Very fine player.

Grey, not really. He was big and strong, but I thought he was a limited player who traded more on bash and crash than skill. He would have made a good league second rower I reckon.

Yes, except for the Kiwis. I can tell you where DC & SBW will be running right now. A little gap between cooper and barnes. I'd do a swap of Ioane and JOC (James O'Connor) too, just cause it looks better on paper. If only Mike Harris could play for the green and gold
