Sorry - I should have made my above post clearer. I think Rule 3.14(d) serves its purpose without actually being applied. The thought of being reduced to 14 men stops players calling for uncontested scrums when the opposition has the upper hand.

I take a different view to that of the ARU. Also being a lower grade player (perhaps even lining up against you this Saturday), I am fed up with uncontested scrums, particularly when the other side brings out a front row weighing in excess of 300kg (you can't tell me they're not props)...
Out of curiosity - why is this match at Suncorp? it can't be a curtain raiser for either the Reds (playing up the coast on Friday) or Wallabies (playing in Melbourne) - wouldn't they play it at either Miskin Oval or Tennyson?
I like and agree with your backline, but I doubt Ship will get a crack (unfortunately). At the Reds breakfast on Friday he said that he hasn't been asked to follow them down to Melbourne, and will instead join the Reds in their trial up the coast.
I think Beale at 15 and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to Vuna's wing...
I assume Barnes will drop back to 15 and Harris will play 10.
I do agree through - Deans' selections on the bench have confused me. Both Dennis and Hooper, no backup (specialist) second rower and two centres on the bench when we already have four centres in the 15.
I have to agree with Barbarian here. The fact that the Reds own website lists Lucas as a scrum half says a lot.
He is the Kurt Gidley of Rugby Union - a utility who is great to have in your side, but his best position isn't in the starting line-up, it's on the bench.
For all those criticising the fact that 8 out of the 15 are Tahs - Having 7 / 15 Super Rugby winning Reds didn't save us on Tuesday, and as a few others have suggested, most of these selections are from injury and scheduling.
My criticism of the team is that we are we taking two players on the...
I agree that it was Waratahesque. At least now we know that it's not just the Tahs that can butcher a perfectly winnable game.
I thought both Morahan and Harris were ordinary. We could have used McCabe and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper).
Further to my previous comment - am I correct in assuming that Barnes being picked at 10 for the Scotland match, suggests that he will not start the Wales match (either at 10 or 12) and that Cooper & McCabe might be Dingo's 1st choice 10 & 12 pairing? as per the his selections throughout most of...
I get the feeling that quite a few are jumping onto the 'Bag Berrick Barnes Bandwagon'. Have we all forgotten how well Quade performed at the WC?
My recollection of Barnes and Cooper's recent performances for the Wallabies seems to accord with the view of The Roar (at...
I agree - it's the little things that are killing us, and as Scarman has noted, concentrating for 80-minutes and picking the right options have cost us dearly.
I could be wrong, but I think we've lost 5 games by 4 or less points, each of which were winnable, and each of which were lost as a...
I wouldn't even go as far as to suggest that the Brumbies are an "in form" team. With all the hype surrounding the Brumbies, and the negative stories being written about the Reds and Tahs - most would be surprised to realise that only 3 points separates the 3 sides.
The Brumbies have won 4 of 7...
He's a great no-frills Super Rugby centre and rarely puts in a poor performance (the stats back this up). Foley's starting to worry me if he would rather play Hangers / Barnes at 10 and 12, over Barnes / Carter.
That said - I don't expect to ever see Carter wear gold.
I agree - now would be the perfect time to take this up. There is generally a spike in interest following a WC year and that will be amplified (at least in Queensland) by the Reds sucess last year.
